This is a high‑visibility, hands‑on leadership role for someone who thrives in complex construction environments, enjoys partnering with diverse stakeholders, and wants to see their work make a real-world impact at scale.
What You’ll Do
As a Project Manager, you will be accountable for successfully delivering utility‑scale solar projects safely, on schedule, and within budget. You’ll balance strategic oversight with day‑to‑day execution, serving as the central point of coordination for internal teams, contractors, and partners.
Key Responsibilities
Lead utility‑scale solar projects from permitting through construction, commissioning, and closeout.
Prepare, negotiate, and administer contractor and subcontractor agreements aligned with project scope, budget, and schedule.
Own overall project budgeting, cost tracking, forecasting, and financial risk management.
Develop project estimates, perform drawing takeoffs, and support subcontractor selection and pricing.
Build and maintain detailed project schedules, managing critical path activities from start to finish.
Coordinate materials, equipment, subcontractors, vendors, inspections, and site mobilizations to keep projects moving efficiently.
Serve as a trusted point of contact for owners, contractors, consultants, inspectors, and regulatory agencies.
Proactively identify and resolve drawing conflicts, constructability issues, RFIs, and change orders.
Oversee commissioning, project closeout, warranties, training, and O&M turnover documentation.
Provide clear, consistent project reporting and status updates to internal stakeholders and leadership.
Support contractor outreach and estimating efforts to expand and strengthen partner relationships.
Mentor and support team members and conduct performance reviews for direct reports, when applicable.
Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining a high standard of accuracy and professionalism.

Required Experience & Skills
4+ years of project management experience in construction, ideally within utility‑scale solar or renewable energy.
Strong understanding of the full solar construction lifecycle—from permitting through commissioning and closeout.
Experience managing project budgets, schedules, RFIs, and change orders with attention to detail.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and scheduling tools such as Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, or similar.
Ability to read, interpret, and troubleshoot construction drawings and technical specifications.
Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment.
Strong communication, organization, and stakeholder management skills.
Self‑starter mindset with the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with teams.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience managing utility‑scale solar projects in Virginia or the broader East Coast.
Experience working for or closely with general contractors on large construction projects.
