\ Fleet Maintenance

  1. Provide preventive maintenance services such as oil changes and filter replacement on gasoline and diesel engines.
  2. Replace bearings, seals, belts, hoses, fittings, and other mechanical components.
  3. Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and basic electrical issues in field equipment.
  4. Maintain maintenance logs, service records, and parts usage documentation.
  5. Identify worn or failing components and recommend repairs or replacements.
  6. Extend the service life of vehicles and equipment through proper repair and maintenance practices

Lead Worker & Crew Coordination

  1. Serve as lead worker on street and stormwater construction and maintenance projects.
  2. Plan, assign, and coordinate daily work activities for crews under general direction of the supervisor.
  3. Provide on-the-job guidance, instruction, and technical assistance to Maintenance Worker I and II staff.

Advanced Infrastructure Maintenance

  1. Perform advanced maintenance, repair, and replacement of streets, roadways, and stormwater drainage systems.
  2. Inspect streets and drainage systems, evaluate conditions, and determine appropriate corrective actions.
  3. Perform complex pavement repair, pipe replacement, ditching, grading, and chip-and-seal operations.

Advanced Equipment & Vehicle Operation

  1. Operate heavy and specialized construction and maintenance equipment, including large trucks and stormwater equipment.
  2. Ensure routine inspection, cleaning, and preventive maintenance of assigned equipment and tools.
  3. Identify equipment defects and coordinate repairs or maintenance needs with the supervisor.

Safety & Work Zone Leadership

  1. Establish, oversee, and adjust work zones and traffic control in hazardous or high-traffic environments.
  2. Ensure compliance with safety policies, procedures, and applicable regulations.

Support Services & General Duties

  1. Assist with related Public Services activities such as solid waste collection, facility support, or emergency response as assigned.
  2. Maintain records related to maintenance activities, materials, and equipment use.
  3. Attend required training, workshops, and safety meetings .
  4. Perform related duties as assigned.

  1. High school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Minimum two (2) years as a Street & Stormwater Maintenance Worker II or two (2) years of comparable advanced public works or construction experience.
  3. Ability to meet the Physical Capacity Profile Level 4 requirements of the position.

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of gasoline and diesel engine operation, diagnostics, and repairs.

Knowledge of drivetrain systems including transmissions, clutches, differentials, and axles.\<
