Job Title: Assembly Operator III
Location: Arden, NC 28704
Shift: 1st Shift – 7 AM to 3:30 PM
Pay Rate: $20/hour
Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled Assembly Operator III to support fiber optic manufacturing operations. This position works directly with fiber optics and is responsible for optical connector assembly, cable termination, and testing of fiber optic cable assemblies. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment, maintains strong attention to detail, and demonstrates a commitment to quality and continuous improvement.
This role supports production goals while ensuring safety, quality, and customer satisfaction. The Assembly Operator III may also assist with process development, prototype builds, and troubleshooting as new products move from concept to market.
Primary Responsibilities
Polish and test fiber optic cables
Assemble and package fiber optic connector components
Terminate single and multi-fiber cable assemblies
Operate fiber router and complete over-molding processes as needed
Support prototype, test, and pre-release NPI builds
Measure components using calipers, gauges, and other measuring devices
Complete required operational paperwork to maintain product traceability
Troubleshoot and perform minor equipment repairs as needed
Perform EFG and IPC workmanship checks on fiber termini
Inspect own work using quality standards, work instructions, and prints
Maintain housekeeping and organization of work areas
Suggest process improvements to increase manufacturing efficiency
Assist with estimating process step durations
Communicate effectively within team environment to meet production and quality goals
Work with limited supervision after training period to produce timely, quality products
Follow all safety guidelines and company policies
Work overtime as needed to support production goals
Work Environment
Clean room environment requiring proper gowning and PPE (gowns, booties, hair nets, gloves, safety glasses, safety shoes)
Work with small parts under a microscope
Ability to remain stationary up to 75% of the time
Ability to move materials up to 50 lbs
Ability to operate machinery and move between work zones
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED preferred
Minimum 1 year of manufacturing experience required
Understanding of manufacturing principles: Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory, Productivity
Proficient hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills for intricate work
Ability to follow written instructions in English
Strong attention to detail and time management skills
Ability to work with small parts in a clean room environment
Team-oriented with strong communication skills
Safe and quality-focused mindset
Preferred Qualifications
1+ year of fiber optic manufacturing experience
SAP Manufacturing and ISO 9001 experience
Knowledge of hand tools and blueprint reading
Mechanical aptitude for safe equipment operation and issue identification
