Diesel Truck Mechanic
A heavy diesel truck mechanic diagnoses, repairs, and maintains diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, and brakes on heavy-duty vehicles. Responsibilities include performing preventative maintenance (oil changes, inspections), troubleshooting computer, electrical, and mechanical failures, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. Key skills include, but are not limited to, using diagnostic software, operating heavy tools, and documenting repairs.
Key Responsibilities and Duties: Diagnostics & Repair: Utilize diagnostic tools to identify mechanical and electrical issues in engines, fuel systems, and exhaust systems. Preventative Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks, including greasing parts, changing oil/filters, and checking fluid levels. Component Replacement: Repair or replace worn-out parts such as brakes, wheel bearings, suspension components, and transmission gears. Technical Reporting: Document all completed work, repairs, and service reports, ensuring accuracy for maintenance records. Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety regulations (OSHA) and maintain a clean, organized work area. Field Service: Respond to road service calls for disabled vehicles as needed.
Salary: $25.00/hour - $30.00/hour, depending on experience.
