CNC Lathe Machinist
Job Duties Level 1:
Performs all tasks in a safe and responsible manner.
Reads and interprets blueprints.
Understand tolerancing.
Uses gauges and measuring instruments to meet tolerance requirements.
Properly and safely replace inserts and materials onto machines.
Performs daily and regular cleaning and light maintenance tasks on machinery and equipment.
Utilizes and abides by ISO requirements and safety procedures.
Complies with all quality policies, specifications, regulations and instructions.
Perform first piece inspection on simple geometry.
Clear chips from parts during operation stops.
Identify part defects and alert supervisor.
Understand tool ware and when to change tooling.
Initiating NCRs and completing other quality and production documents.
Position may include other duties and responsibilities assigned by supervisor and/or management
Job Duties Level 2:
Set up and operate for basic parts.
Create and review simple programs.
Transfer programs from the shop computer to the machine.
General understanding of speeds and feeds of the cutting tool.
Properly and safely selects, aligns, secures and removes holding fixtures, cutting tools,attachments, accessories and materials onto machines.
Recognizes, deploys and properly uses inserts, fixtures and tooling.
Has own measuring tools.
Job Duties Level 3:
Set up and operate the most complex parts.
Perform tasks with little to no supervision.
Determining and adjusting speeds and feeds of the cutting tool based on material and tooling.
Continually find ways for improvement
Communicate and provide guidance and feedback to engineering for new and existing parts.
Train and mentor upcoming machinists
Minimal scrap and rework rates
Evaluate experimental procedures and recommend change or modifications for efficiency and adaptability to setup and production.
Test new tooling and complete time studies to properly prove out new tooling. Qualifications:
Level 1:
Read, interpret blue prints, and produce parts in accordance to prints
Uses gauges and measuring instruments to meet tolerance requirements.
Utilizes and abides by ISO requirements and safety procedures.
Operating CNC machines
Understand tolerancing.
Self-motivated individual
Level 2:
CNC Lathe experience required including setups.
Preferred experience with creating conversational programs.
Problem-solving skills
Level 3:
Extensive CNC Lathe experience required including setups.
Evaluate experimental procedures and recommend change or modifications for efficiency and adaptability to setup and production.
Experience with conversational programing
Excellent problem-solving skills
Work self sufficiently
Work well in a team environment.
Train and mentor other employees WORKING CONDITIONS: Fast-paced manufacturing environment. Requires standing, walking, and lifting for extended periods. May involve exposure to noise and varying temperatures. Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.
