YMCA of the Triangle Golf Course Crew | YMCA Camp Sea Gull in Arapahoe, North Carolina

  • The Golf Course Crew role performs all duties as assigned by the Facilities Director as well as ensures safety, cleanliness, and proper use or care of equipment at all times. They are responsible for maintaining greens, sand traps, fairways and rough. These responsibilities are managed in accordance with the stated mission, goals, and policies established by the administrative staff, governing committees, and Board of Directors of the YMCA.

    • Mows greens on a regular schedule in a manner consistent with course standards.
    • Grooms sand traps and filling with sand as needed.
    • Assists with the mowing of fairways and roughs.
    • Waters greens on a regular schedule to promote growth.
    • Performs all preventative maintenance required on equipment and assist with the repairing of all equipment used on the golf course
    • Assists in keeping grounds clean, maintained and functional for all participants; to include operating mowers, weed eaters, clippers, etc.
    • Assists in team efforts with essential seasonal site preparations, shut downs, and unplanned events such as storm damage cleanup and repair.
    • Models relationship-building skills in all interactions. Maintains regular, clear, and concise communication within area of responsibility.
    • Other duties and responsibilities assigned by Facilities Director or Assistant Facilities Manager.
    • High School Diploma/GED preferred.
    • Experience in golf course maintenance, facility maintenance, or related work.
    • Ability to operate specialized maintenance equipment and lawn maintenance equipment, and perform general maintenance.
    • Ability to read and follow oral and written directions.
    • The position requires the ability to work with applications on electronic devices.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required.
    • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
    • Positive attitude and enjoying working in a team-oriented environment is essential to success.
    • Multi-lingual desired but not required.
    • Office and program settings with frequent interaction in various camp spaces including extended time in nature and exposure to varied terrain, wildlife, and changing weather conditions.
    • Moderate noise levels; may be louder during youth or community activities.
    • Sufficient physical strength and agility to carry out essential duties.
    • Ability to erect and stand on ladders and platforms at heights up to 30 feet.
    • Ability to work with paint, cleaning equipment, chemical compounds, solvents, cleaners, and solutions in dry, liquid, powder, spray, and aerosol forms.
    • Ability to paint, clean equipment, and operate motorized equipment as needed.
    • Ability to work in conditions that will create dirt and dust.
    • Ability to perform essential maintenance to facility or equipment which may involve, but not limited to the following activities: semi - reaching to full-reach overhead; crouching; kneeling; shoveling; carrying, working in narrow and/or confining spaces: underground, overhead, and at ground level; twisting of the waist, shoulders, and legs; and lying on stomach and/or back.
    • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching; occasional lifting or moving up to 40 lbs.
    • Flexible schedule required will include early mornings, evenings, weekends.
    • Must be able to provide valid identification for employment eligibility verification.
    • Must possess a valid drivers license and have access to reliable transportation.
    • A clean driving record is required to meet YMCA insurance standards.
    • Travel between site locations, and to off-site meetings and events may be required.
