JOB REQUIREMENTS: Upholstery Technician IIIin GAC Appleton Unique Skills: First Shift (Monday - Thursday, 4-10\'s) This position is for our 1st shift Upholstery team. Knowledge of and proper usage methods for most hand tools, bandsaw, router, cordless power tools, sewing machines, glue booths, and leather working experience is preferred. Mechanical background, mechanic (automotive, small engine, powersports, diesel), welding, woodworking, cabinet building, and/or finish carpentry experience is preferred but not required. Education and Experience Requirements High School Diploma or GED required. 3 years experience using commercial sewing machines, sergers and/or various hand tools used in the upholstery and carpet trades. experience in aerospace preferred. Position Purpose: Work independently to design, fabricate, and install upholstery and trim items in aircraft interiors. Assist Shop Lead by overseeing projects and providing guidance and direction to co-workers. Mentor and train other Upholstery Technicians. Job Description Principle Duties and Responsibilities: Essential Functions: Fabricate and install seat covers, curtains and various assemblies and subassemblies. Interpret material specifications and design/engineering drawings to ensure finished product meets design and engineering requirements. Sew, fabricate, and install covers for all styles of panels in the aircraft interior while meeting safety, quality, and productivity standards and goals. Use the material tracking system, Corridor, to create parts demand, track squawks and to sign-off work. Work with design/drawings to cut and install advanced custom design carpets with unique patterns. Additional Functions: Accept Lead responsibilities when needed.
