Apex Plumbing and Heating, Inc. Plumber Supervisor - Wake County in Apex, North Carolina

Position Overview The Commercial Plumbing Supervisor oversees all plumbing activities on commercial construction projects, ensuring installations meet contract specifications, code requirements, and project timelines. This role requires deep technical knowledge of commercial plumbing systems, strong leadership skills, and the ability to coordinate effectively with general contractors, subcontractors, inspectors, and field teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Interpret and apply contract drawings, blueprints, and commercial project plans to guide field installation work.
  • Ensure all plumbing work complies with local, state, and national plumbing codes, as well as project-specific standards.
  • Supervise and perform installation of sanitary waste and vent systems using cast iron and PVC pipe and fittings commonly used in commercial applications.
  • Oversee installation of commercial domestic water systems using copper pipe and fittings, including large-diameter piping and multifloor distribution.
  • Manage installation of natural gas piping systems and ensure proper testing and inspection procedures.
  • Coordinate installation of commercial plumbing fixtures, trim, and related accessories across restrooms, kitchens, mechanical rooms, and specialty spaces.
  • Oversee installation of commercial plumbing equipment, including water heaters, expansion tanks, grease interceptors, backflow preventers, and other mechanical components.
  • Work closely with project managers and general contractors to maintain schedules, resolve field issues, and support project milestones.
  • Maintain a safe jobsite and ensure adherence to OSHA standards and company safety protocols.
  • Provide clear, consistent communication with field crews, subcontractors, inspectors, and project leadership.
  • Train, mentor, and evaluate plumbing technicians to ensure high-quality workmanship and productivity.
Qualifications
  • Extensive experience in commercial plumbing installation, including multistory buildings, tenant improvements, and large mechanical systems.
  • Strong understanding of commercial plumbing codes, installation standards, and inspection requirements.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex construction drawings, specifications, and submittals.
  • Proven leadership experience supervising plumbing crews on commercial job sites.
  • Excellent communication, coordination, and problemsolving skills.
  • Valid drivers license and reliable transportation.
Preferred Qualifications
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification.
  • Experience managing multiple crews or largescale commercial projects.
  • Familiarity with construction scheduling, RFI processes, and coordination with other trades.
