Position Overview The Plumbing Apprentice supports licensed plumbers and supervisors in the installation, maintenance, and repair of plumbing systems on commercial construction projects. This role is designed for individuals developing their skills in the trade, with handson training provided in the field. Apprentices must be eager to learn, able to follow instructions, and committed to safety and quality workmanship.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in reading and understanding contract drawings, blueprints, and project plans under the guidance of a journeyman or supervisor.
- Learn and apply basic principles of plumbing code compliance on commercial job sites.
- Support the installation of sanitary waste and vent systems using cast iron and PVC pipe and fittings.
- Assist with installation of domestic water systems using copper pipe and fittings.
- Help install and test natural gas piping systems under proper supervision.
- Assist in setting and installing plumbing fixtures and associated accessories, including trim and supports.
- Support installation of plumbing equipment such as water heaters, expansion tanks, grease interceptors, and other commercial components.
- Maintain tools, materials, and work areas in a clean and organized manner.
- Follow all company safety policies and OSHA guidelines while working on active construction sites.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to ensure tasks are completed accurately and on schedule.
Qualifications
- Interest in developing a career in the commercial plumbing trade.
- Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
- Basic understanding of hand tools, power tools, and construction practices (preferred but not required).
- Willingness to learn plumbing codes, installation techniques, and safety procedures.
- Reliable transportation and consistent attendance.
- Strong work ethic and positive attitude.
