Amentum Ship's Store Service Activities Supervisor in AP, United Kingdom
Amentum, a global leader in advanced engineering, technical, and professional services serving the US government, allies, and critical infrastructure sectors, is seeking a Ship's Store Service Activities Supervisor to support a unique US Navy program based on the island of Diego Garcia.
Job Responsibilities
The Ship's Store Service Activities Supervisor is responsible for the comprehensive management of retail sales, barber and beautician services, and laundry services on behalf of the Navy. Acting as the central point of contact between the Contractor and the Government, this role ensures all facilities and operations comply with relevant Navy policies, delivering high-quality services while maintaining accountability for Navy-owned retail stock. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Central Point of Contact:
Acting as the primary liaison between the Government and all operations under retail sales, barber and beautician services, and laundry operations.
Addressing and resolving operational issues proactively while maintaining open communication with Government representatives.
Operations and Compliance Management:
Supervising day-to-day operations of the Ship’s Store, including retail sales, ensuring proper customer service and compliance with applicable Navy instructions and regulations.
Ensuring barber and beautician services are conducted effectively, meeting cleanliness, hygiene, and customer satisfaction standards.
Overseeing laundry services , ensuring timely and proper handling of garments, linens, and other client needs.
Continuously monitoring operations to ensure compliance with relevant regulations, instructions, and standards established by the Navy.
Inventory and Stock Accountability:
Taking ultimate responsibility for the management and accountability of Navy-owned retail stock , ensuring accurate tracking, rotation, and reporting.
Overseeing inventory control systems, conducting audits, and producing reports to ensure compliance with Navy supply system requirements.
Coordinating procurement needs to maintain optimal stock levels, avoiding shortages or overages in inventory.
Leadership and Team Supervision:
Supervising and coordinating work activities of personnel across all service areas, ensuring optimal staff scheduling and productivity.
Providing training, mentoring, and professional development for team members to maintain high performance and compliance with Navy policies.
Promoting a culture of respect, professionalism, and customer-focused service among all staff.
Minimum Requirements
Education:
- A bachelor’s degree from a U.S.-accredited college or university, preferably in Business Administration/Management or a related field.
Experience:
- A minimum of 10 years’ experience in managing a Navy supply system or equivalent large-scale retail operation.
Additional Requirements:
U.S. Citizenship is required.
Comprehensive understanding of Navy policies and operational instructions related to retail, barber, beautician, and laundry services.
Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills to manage multiple operational areas effectively.
Proficiency in inventory management practices and tools to ensure compliance with Navy standards.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to coordinate between government representatives, contractors, and team members.
Attention to detail and ability to prepare and present accurate operational and inventory reports.
Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain compliance for the duration of deployment.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience in an OCONUS (Outside the Continental United States) environment with a multi-national workforce is highly desirable.
Additional certifications in retail management, logistics, or supply chain operations , such as Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) or equivalent.
Familiarity with Navy’s Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) program policies and procedures.
Experience managing personnel and operations in remote or high-tempo environments.
Working knowledge of government contracts and reporting requirements related to service activities.
