What youll do: Youll supervise assigned sergeants and be responsible for the custody and security of non-citizens in the facility.
Essential functions: Serve as shift supervisor. Coordinate activities of offender orientation, arrival and discharge. Prepare pre-release detainees for release. Coordinate the completion of all necessary paperwork. Conduct interviews and counseling sessions as assigned. Monitor intake photo and identification activities. Supervise, protect, instruct, train, counsel and evaluate assigned employees and detainees; schedule employees and detainees work and off-duty time; assist in formulating security and work procedures. Supervise and direct searches for contraband and provide security. Read, review and properly apply information found in detainee records which is related to the detainees health and safety and to the security of the facility. Provide appropriate information to other personnel. Supervise the preparation and maintenance of records, forms and reports. Perform specific duties if assigned to the following areas: unit, administration, and segregation area. Maintain custody and security of detainees including observation of detainees, which includes long periods of sitting and standing. Perform specific security functions including pat and strip searches, by squatting and bending to perform such functions. Required to climb ladders or stairs while searching for contraband. Required to perform rounds of the facility which requires long periods of walking. Must be able to work rotating shifts and work all post assignments.
Education and experience requirements: High school diploma or equivalent A minimum of three (3) years experience in an adult correctional environment, or related field required, one (1) which must be in a supervisory capacity. Valid driver's license in the state of Texas with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management. Must have United States Citizenship and successfully complete required pre-service training.
