This position provides clerical support services to assigned unit(s) at Anoka Metro Regional Treatment Center (AMRTC). Located just 15 minutes north of the Twin Cities, AMRTC is an inpatient psychiatric hospital serving adults with mental illness in a large, campus-based setting. This modern facility offers person-centered care in a pleasant environment appreciated by employees and patients alike.
The Unit Coordinator serves as a receptionist to the unit, responsible for performing clerical tasks that are essential to maintaining efficient unit operations. This includes managing patient medical records, greeting visitors, assist in arranging patient appointments and transportation, organizing written materials, and preparing reports using multiple procedures, including computers and other technical equipment. In addition, the Unit Coordinator supports the operations of the facility overall through personal initiative, positive attitude, cooperation, and good work habit.
Job duties include:
Maintain a current, comprehensive medical record for all patients on the unit, from admission to discharge, including current patient status.
Transcribe physician orders in an accurate and timely manner, plus assist in arranging patient appointments and transportation as ordered.
Answer unit phone, direct calls, and relay messages between patients, staff, and other units.
Communicate respectfully with patients, staff, and visitors, providing assistance as needed.
Organize and keep sufficient quantity of various supplies on unit, ordering and restocking as needed.
Maintain patient confidentiality according to all applicable laws, rules, policies, and procedures.
Support the delivery of treatment that meets health and safety standards.
Minimum Qualifications
To qualify, applicants must possess all of the following:
Knowledge of medical terminology sufficient to develop and maintain accurate medical records and transcribe medical reports, correspondence, records, patient- care information, statistics, medical research, and administrative material.
Skill in document and records management sufficient to maintain electronic or paper files for efficient organization and retrieval of information.
Skill in customer service sufficient to provide prompt and accurate information to customers in person, on the phone, and through email and other written or electronic correspondence.
Skill in word processing sufficient to prepare, edit, and finalize emails, memos, reports, and/or other documents and types of written communication that are grammatically correct, in proper format, and free of spelling errors.
Skill in Typing/Keyboarding, using Microsoft Word or equivalent software, sufficient to produce documents such as emails and other correspondence in an efficient and timely manner.
