Summer 2026 Software Developer Internship

Praxis Engineering, a GDIT Company, is seeking top performing college students for our 10-week Summer 2026 Internship Program. This is an opportunity to gain practical hands-on experience in at least one of our key technical focus areas, which include Full-Spectrum Cyberspace Operations, Data Science/Machine Learning/AI, and High-Performance Computing. The selected individuals will work closely with experienced mentors on Praxis’ in-house software project(s).
Over the course of the internship, students will focus on the following three items:
Building hands-on experience with modern software and technologies
Learning best practices in the software development lifecycle and how to work efficiently as a team
Creating and delivering professional-grade demos and presentations – critical skills for well-rounded engineers
This is meaningful internal research and development work that offers a glimpse into what life at Praxis is like!
What you will need
At least 2 years of education towards a Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Cybersecurity, or similar Engineering degree (we will consider strong candidates from any major with at least 1 year of Computer Science coursework)
Demonstrated experience and/or training in software development and proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, C/C++, Rust, JavaScript/TypeScript.
Demonstrated experience and/or training in software design/development best practices and methodologies.
Passion for solving complex software engineering problems, continuously learning, and working effectively in a collaborative team environment!
Interest in developing engineering soft skills like demoing, building presentations, and public speaking
US Citizenship required

At the conclusion of our 10-week program, successful interns will have demonstrated:
Excellent technical aptitude and an ability to learn and absorb new things
Reliability and accountability: saying what you’re going to do and doing what you say
Effective collaboration with Praxis mentors and other intern team members
Compliance with all relevant Praxis/GDIT policies and processes

The likely hourly rate for this position is between $25.50 - $34.50. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
