The USG’s capability could have thousands of credential checks per minute depending on how pervasively the system services check for permissions, so the CMS may have multiple tiers of credential strength or permissioned surface exposure, e.g., prevent loss due to typos, accidental spills, authority escalation, and intrusion, etc.

UAS: User Access Services
Description: User Access Services detail the points and protocols of user/role access, procedures to enable and disable access, and any enabling technology to provide access through non-standard means. For example, most infrastructure could be run in an operator lock-out mode in which users, including privileged or root system administrators, are not permitted or able to connect or log in during normal operating conditions. A component failure could warrant automatically sanitizing the device and enabling an appropriately permissioned and time-granted person to remotely access it, load a diagnostic toolkit onto it, and perform limited testing.
