Job Summary
The Organ Procurement Coordinator receives, analyzes, coordinates, and completes organ allocation offers and intended transplants with minimal supervision. This role involves working collaboratively with clinical staff, transplant surgeons, and external partners to ensure timely and efficient organ recovery processes. The position requires adherence to all regulatory, safety, and institutional standards and protocols.

Responsibilities*
Completes activities and processes associate with the intake and management of organ allocationoffers and required responses in accordance with applicable practices, protocols, and policies.
Completes scheduling, coordination, and transplantation of accepted organs in accordance withapplicable practices, protocols, and policies.
Completes transplant candidate wait list additions, management, and associated communications inaccordance with applicable practices, protocols, and policies.
Maintain effective and respectful communication with donor hospitals, surgical teams, and transportpersonnel.
Assist with orientation and training of new staff member as assigned.
Assists with assigned Quality and regulatory compliance efforts, assist with audits, initiatives, andworkgroups.
Support continuous process improvement initiatives related to organ procurement and preservation.
Attend departmental meetings, trainings, and in-services.
Perform administrative tasks such as data entry, tracking, and reporting metrics relevant to procurementactivities.
Other duties as assigned by leadership to support transplant program operations.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Works under general supervision of the Nurse Supervisor, or other Designee(s).
Functions independently within the scope of defined duties but seeks guidance for complex or unfamiliar situations.
Performance is reviewed through direct observation, documentation audits, and feedback from teammembers and leadership
Required Qualifications*
Minimum of 3-5 years organ donation, transplant, or combined work experience.
Working to obtain American Board of Transplant Coordinators certification within 2-years of hire
Desired Qualifications*
Associate or bachelor?s degree in health sciences or related field.
Certification or training in sterile processing or surgical technology.
Experience with perfusion equipment or organ preservation systems
Work Schedule
3-12 hour night shifts

Union Affiliation
This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the United Michigan Medicine Allied Professionals (UMMAP), which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours, and other terms and conditions of employment.
