Overview
Financial Audit & Accounting Analyst II:
Bowhead is seeking a Financial Audit & Accounting Analyst II to support AF FIAR audit readiness initiatives at Andrews AFB, MD. The Financial Audit & Accounting Analyst II will support audit readiness and financial improvement initiatives by delivering accurate, auditable accounting analysis, reconciliations, and documentation. This role focuses on strengthening internal controls, supporting audit assertions, and ensuring compliance with federal financial management standards, including SFFAS guidance. The position includes direct support to Air Force Security Assistance Account property and related financial processes.
Responsibilities
Support audit assertions, asset valuation, and account reconciliations across financial statements
Prepare and maintain auditor-ready documentation, including supporting evidence and workpapers
Execute audit remediation activities and implement sustainable business and accounting solutions
Analyze financial data to identify discrepancies and improve accuracy and compliance
Contribute to internal control design and testing to support audit readiness efforts
Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure alignment with federal accounting standards and audit requirements
May lead or support small teams in executing audit and financial management activities
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, or related field (or 4+ years of relevant experience)
5+ years of experience in financial management, accounting, or audit support
Experience supporting financial statement audits or preparing assertion packages
Proven ability to produce defensible, auditor-ready documentation and reconciliations
Experience supervising or leading small teams or workstreams
Professional certification: CPA, CIA, CISA, CDFM, or CGFM
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Foreign Military Sales (FMS) or Security Cooperation processes
Strong background in audit readiness, remediation, and internal controls (ICOFR)
Experience preparing or reviewing assessable unit assertion packages in accordance with FIAR Guidance
Familiarity with federal accounting and audit standards (e.g., GAAP, GAGAS, FASAB, SFFAS)
Knowledge of OMB guidance (A-123, A-127, A-134, A-136)
Physical Demands:
Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds
Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time
Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically
SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to maintain a security clearance at the Secret level. US Citizenship is a requirement for this contract.
