Overview

Data Analytics & Audit Support Analyst II:

Bowhead seeks a Data Analytics & Audit Support Analyst II to support the AF Fiar contract in Andrews AFB, MD. The Data Analytics & Audit Support Analyst II will support audit readiness and Security Assistance Account initiatives by delivering advanced data analytics, reconciliation, and traceability solutions. This role focuses on transforming complex financial and system data into actionable insights, enabling end-to-end transaction traceability, and supporting audit assertions through defensible, data-driven evidence.

The ideal candidate combines strong technical data skills with an understanding of federal financial data and audit requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Perform end-to-end transaction tracing (e.g., Universe of Transactions (UoT)) across financial and feeder systems

  • Analyze and reconcile large, disparate datasets to support audit assertions and financial reporting

  • Develop and automate data pipelines, scripts, and analytical processes using Python, SQL, or similar tools

  • Build dashboards, reports, and visualizations to support audit readiness and stakeholder decision-making

  • Apply data mining and statistical techniques to identify anomalies, discrepancies, and trends

  • Support asset valuation and reconciliation activities through data analysis and system tracing

  • Collaborate with accounting, financial, and system stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions

  • Maintain clear, auditor-ready documentation and data lineage to support audit requests

  • Operate in high-tempo environments, responding to urgent data calls and audit requests

  • May lead or support small teams or workstreams

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical, financial, or related field (or 4+ years of relevant experience)

  • 5+ years of experience in data analytics, database development, or technical data analysis

  • Hands-on experience with DAF financial systems or similar federal financial/feeder systems

  • Proficiency in Python and/or SQL for data analysis, automation, and reconciliation

  • Experience with data platforms and visualization tools (e.g., Databricks, Power BI, Qlik)

  • Strong understanding of data structures, relational databases, and system-to-system data flows

  • Experience supporting audit activities (e.g., UoT tracing, reconciliations, audit evidence preparation)

  • Proven ability to produce defensible, auditor-ready data outputs and documentation

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Foreign Military Sales (FMS) or Security Cooperation processes

  • Familiarity with the Operational Air Force Financial Data Structure and data dictionary

  • Strong background in audit readiness, remediation, and internal controls

  • Experience integrating data analytics into financial statement audit support

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds

  • Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time

  • Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to maintain a security clearance at the Secret level. US Citizenship is a requirement for this contract.
