Overview
Audit Remediation & Financial Data Analyst
Bowhead is seeking an Audit Remediation & Financial Data Analyst to support Department of Defense financial audit readiness efforts. This role focuses on executing audit remediation controls, financial reconciliations, and data-driven analysis across government disbursement and reporting systems.
This is a high-intensity, client-facing role requiring an active or interim Secret clearance, supporting audit testing cycles and financial statement validation efforts at Joint Base Andrews (JBA).
Responsibilities
Develop and execute audit remediation controls using government accounting principles and data analytics tools
Support audit testing, financial statement assessments, and reconciliation of government disbursement systems
Perform data analysis and validation using structured financial and operational datasets
Reconcile disparate financial datasets across DoD systems and identify discrepancies
Apply scripting and automation techniques to improve audit efficiency and reporting accuracy
Support auditors during high-intensity testing cycles and tight deadlines
Assist in documenting audit-ready evidence and control execution results
Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure data integrity and financial traceability
Provide input into process improvement and remediation strategies
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
BA/S in a relevant technical field preferred. An additional four (4) years of relevant work experience may be substituted for education requirement
Five (5) years of experience creating/maintaining databases or developing data and analytics experience (creation of data visualizations, data analytic reports, data cleansing scripts and processes or performing technical data analytics).
Working knowledge or recent experience in business or financial management principles
Working knowledge of government accounting principles
Experience with SQL and/or Python for data analysis and automation
Experience with data platforms and analytics tools, including:
AWS S3
Databricks
Tableau and/or Power BI
Ability to work under strict deadlines and high-pressure audit environments
Ability to co-locate and work onsite at Joint Base Andrews (JBA)
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with DoD financial systems (e.g., GAFS, DEAMS, DDRS)
Familiarity with the Operational Air Force Financial Data Structure and Data Dictionary
Experience supporting financial statement audits or audit remediation efforts
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
Experience working in cross-functional federal or consulting environments
Physical Demands:
Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds
Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time
Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically
SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to maintain a security clearance at the Secret level. US Citizenship is a requirement for this contract.
