Matrix Service Industrial Maintenance Mechanic Apprentice in Anacortes, Washington

Description Job Summary: Work under the direction of a Journeyperson or Foreman. Individuals will gain a high level of skill in the industrial maintenance/turnaround/construction/or mechanical environment and apprenticeship. Job Functions: Actively supports the Company's commitment to safety and its "Core Values." Always represents the Company with high moral standards while adhering to the Company's "Code of Business Conduct and Ethics." The ability to learn how to assemble and disassemble refinery equipment. Perform duties within a precise limit or standard of accuracy (Quality Control). Gain the knowledge to work from drawings and blueprints. Ability to learn how to run several types of equipment (forklifts, manlifts, etc.) Must be able to perform Turnaround duties when required. Must be able to complete work assignments under the close supervision of a journeyperson. Ability to learn how to select the proper tools and equipment to complete a job. Must work well with supervision. Perform other responsibilities as required or assigned. Will be required to attend apprenticeship classes for the duration of the apprenticeship. Qualifications: Zero (0) to four (4) years in refinery maintenance experience. Apprentices will participate in the apprenticeship program for up to four (4) years. Continually gain understanding of refinery maintenance type work and knowledge of basic hand tools. A steady hand and good hand-eye coordination are necessary for working with small parts. Strong knowledge of industrial safety standards and procedures is crucial. The ability to communicate clearly with team members, supervisors, and other departments about issues and solutions is important. Complete the Company's Safety training, Process Safety Management training and Client/Site specific training. MUST obtain and maintain active status within the appropriate drug testing program. MUST pass background check. MUST have TWIC card. MUST have a 20-hour high hazard facility training card. MUST produce a High School diploma or GED and a valid driver's license. Physical Requirements: Employee will be standing, walking, bending, squatting and lifting. Must be able to hear, speak, understand and communicate effectively. May be required to lift, carry and move up to 50lbs. Will occasionally work at heights, climb ladders and stairways and work off of platforms while utilizing proper fall protection and safety protocols. Must be capable of working outside in the elements including but not limited to the heat, cold, rain, snow and wind; and must be able to work for long periods of time, up to 12 hours a day. Will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs/muffs, masks/respirators, safety vests, gloves and steel-toe boots. The pay rate will depend on the successful candidate's qualifications and prior experience, specific skill set, geographic location, internal equity, and other factors influencing pay. As such, the actual salary may fall closer to one or the other end of this range, and in certain circumstances, may fall outside the listed hiring range.
