Mohawk Lifts LLC 2nd Shift Material Handler / Forklift Driver in AMSTERDAM, New York

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: The Material Handler supports the manufacturing facility by performing work in one or more of the following areas: loading and unloading trucks, sorting and stocking product, reviewing incoming orders, operates a hand grinder, use of magnetic drills, materials transfer, forklift operation, and work with other heavy manufacturing equipment to support various functions within the production facility. This position adheres to all safety guidelines. This position works under the direction of Production leader or other manufacturing leaders. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Loading and unloading trucks. * Review accuracy of incoming orders. * Route incoming orders appropriately for stocking and storage. * Lift material and parts, including but not limited to unloading parts from the burn table. * Work with and around heavy manufacturing equipment, including but not limited to powered equipment. * When requested, perform other manual work including cleanup activities, garbage removal, facility painting, and snow removal. * Assist team members with moving and handling parts, manually or by crane use. * Assist welders with setting up and supplying parts to the designated locations and removal of completed work from said designated location. * Assist painters in loading and offloading parts in the paint booth and staging area, either manually or with forklift. * Operate a forklift to load and unload pallets, load and unload freight trucks, and move materials within the facility. * Practice and adhere to all safety requirements and guidelines. This includes but is not limited to forklift operation, proximity to other powered tools, personnel, equipment, and other workplace factors. * Grinding responsibilities, such as utilizing electric or pneumatic hand grinders to clean pre-welded parts, welded parts, and steel parts. * Drilling responsibilities such as utilizing magnetic drill to bore holes. * Inspect tools prior to use to ensure efficient use and safety. * Safely operate crane and/or forklift if trained and assigned. * Daily safety inspection i.e. crane, forklift, equipment * Perform work in a safe manner and complete all required safety inspections. * Actively participate in cross training and continuous improvement assignments. * Work cooperatively with coworkers including training and knowledge sharing. * Learn new skills, techniques and equipment operation as assigned. * Maintain clean and organized work area conditions and comply with safety requirements. * Receive direction from team lead or another designated leader. * Maintains conformance with safety rules and regulations, if you are unclear of or uncomfortable with a safety process then you have an obligation to make your supervisor aware. * It is required that if you see or are made aware of a safety related issue or concern to immediately address it or make management aware. * Involved with continuous improvement efforts regarding all aspects of safety. * Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment. * May work overtime as production needs require. * Other duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, and SKILLS: * A minimum of three (3) years experience in a manufacturing environment operating heavy manufacturing equipment, including but not limited to powered equipment. * Proficient understanding of safety requirements. * Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with management and co-workers. * Must be able to understand English language and be understood. * Must be able to work with minimum supervision. * Forklift and overhead crane operation, as trained and assigned.
