Position Summary
The Parks Maintenance Seasonal Worker provides operational support to the Parks and Recreation
Department through hands-on maintenance, groundskeeping, and facility care. This position contributes
directly to the safety, cleanliness, appearance, and functionality of public parks, landscaped areas,
recreation facilities, and amenities.
The role requires physical stamina, mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and a strong commitment
to public service and safety. Work is performed primarily outdoors in varying weather conditions and
involves the operation of hand tools, power equipment, and light-duty vehicles.

Reports To: Parks & Recreation Director
Supervisory Responsibility: None
Key Responsibilities
Grounds & Landscape Maintenance
? Perform mowing, trimming, edging, weeding, and general turf maintenance.
? Maintain landscaped areas, trees, planting beds, and open park spaces to established quality
standards.
? Remove litter, debris, and graffiti to preserve park cleanliness and appearance.
? Load, unload, and distribute gravel, soil, trees, and other landscape materials using appropriate
equipment.
? Assist with planting, soil preparation, and general grounds improvement projects.
Facility & Amenity Maintenance
? Clean and sanitize restrooms, including toilets, sinks, floors, and fixtures; restock paper and
hygiene supplies.
? Maintain shelters and pavilions between reservations, including washing surfaces, emptying
trash, and preparing spaces for public use.
? Refurbish and maintain park amenities such as benches, picnic tables, bleachers, receptacles,
playground structures, and signage.
? Ensure park facilities meet safety and cleanliness standards at all times.
Equipment Operation & Maintenance
? Operate mowers, trimmers, blowers, and other groundskeeping equipment safely and efficiently.
? Utilize hand tools and power tools for digging, shoveling, grading, and repair work.
? Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on motorized and mechanical equipment.
? Assist with inspection, maintenance, and repair of automated irrigation systems.
? Follow all equipment safety guidelines and report mechanical issues promptly.
Safety & Public Interaction
? Perform all duties in accordance with departmental policies, safety standards, and risk
management practices.
? Maintain awareness of public presence and ensure work activities do not create hazards.
? Interact with park visitors in a courteous, helpful, and professional manner.
? Demonstrate teamwork and maintain positive working relationships with supervisors and
coworkers.
General Support
? Complete assigned tasks accurately and within established timeframes.
? Support special projects, events, and seasonal initiatives as needed.
? Perform additional duties consistent with the scope of the position.
Core Competencies
Technical & Operational Skills
? Working knowledge of general grounds maintenance and landscaping practices.
? Ability to safely operate light-duty vehicles and power equipment (must be at least 17 years old
with a valid drivers license to operate vehicles).
? Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools.
? Basic mechanical aptitude for equipment care and minor repair.
? Understanding of irrigation system fundamentals (preferred).

Minimum Qualifications
? Previous experience in grounds maintenance or landscaping preferred.
? Valid Idaho drivers license and proof of insurance required.
? Must meet minimum age requirements for equipment and vehicle operation.
