Description We are looking for a highly skilled Staff Accountant to join our team in Amherst, New York. This long-term contract position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to a dynamic and detail-oriented environment. The ideal candidate will demonstrate expertise in corporate tax, financial reporting, and general accounting practices.
Responsibilities:
• Prepare and review corporate tax returns to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory standards.
• Manage sales tax filings and related documentation accurately and on time.
• Record and reconcile journal entries to maintain accurate financial records.
• Oversee the general ledger to ensure proper categorization and balancing of accounts.
• Assist in preparing financial statements and reports for internal and external purposes.
• Conduct thorough analysis of financial data to identify discrepancies and propose solutions.
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless integration of accounting processes.
• Stay updated on changes in tax regulations and accounting standards to ensure compliance.
• Support audits by providing necessary documentation and responding to inquiries.
• Contribute to process improvements to enhance efficiency in accounting operations. Requirements • Proven experience in corporate tax preparation and compliance.
• Strong knowledge of sales tax regulations and filing procedures.
• Proficiency in recording and reconciling journal entries.
• Hands-on experience with general ledger management and reporting.
• Familiarity with preparing financial statements and reports.
• Excellent analytical skills with an ability to identify and resolve accounting discrepancies.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Up-to-date knowledge of tax laws and accounting principles.
