Calibration Technician – Amherst, NY
Pay: $20.75 – $28.25/hr
Shift: 1st Shift | 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM

Summary
A Technical Center in Amherst, NY is seeking a hands‑on Calibration Technician to perform incoming and outgoing calibrations on high‑precision sensors and measurement systems used in automotive, aerospace, and industrial automation applications.
This role works directly in the calibration lab, supporting both current production and future system development.
Must‑Have Qualifications
Experience calibrating load cells and torque sensors
Experience testing electronic instrumentation , with a basic understanding of transducers and calibration principles
Proficiency using lab/test equipment:
Oscilloscopes
Voltmeters
Frequency generators
Insulation testers
Ability to read and understand schematics, mechanical drawings, and test documentation
Key Responsibilities
Perform all incoming and outgoing calibrations across multiple lab stations
Interpret schematics, mechanical drawings, test procedures, setup drawings, and product definitions
Troubleshoot calibration issues; coordinate with the Calibration Lead for complex problems
Maintain and perform minor repairs on lab equipment
Manage bench stock, tools, supplies, and testing instruments
Suggest improvements to test fixtures, procedures, and product definitions
Assist with Engineering Change Requests (ECRs)
Provide input for developing future systems and assist with specification work
Support the Calibration Lead with planning and writing special operating instructions
Typical Day
The day starts by performing calibrations on force, pressure, or torque measurement devices. This includes setting up equipment, reviewing documentation, running calibration sequences, and recording results.
Throughout the day, the technician may:
Troubleshoot calibration discrepancies
Conduct light maintenance on test equipment
Restock lab supplies and tools
Work closely with the Calibration Lead to resolve issues and improve processes
Support system development projects within the technical center
Skills
Core Skills: Calibration, instrumentation, troubleshooting, mechanical aptitude, electronics, test equipment
Additional Skills: Soldering, microscope work, blueprint/schematic reading
Additional Qualifications
Associate degree (or equivalent technical program) or equivalent hands‑on experience in calibration or electronics
Strong troubleshooting skills in a lab or technical environment
Preferred: Experience working in an ISO 17025 calibration environment
