Massachusetts Employer Summer Youth Program Counselor in Amesbury, Massachusetts

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The essential functions or duties listed below are intended only as examples of the various types of work that may be performed. Supervise and actively engage with an assigned group of children throughout the program day Plan and lead outdoor games, sports, and group activities Facilitate recreational and educational experiences such as arts and crafts, yoga, and team-building activities Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants; enforce all program rules and safety procedures Set up, maintain, and clean program equipment in accordance with health and safety guidelines Follow all applicable health protocols and sanitation procedures Manage group dynamics, resolve conflicts, and address behavioral concerns in a positive and constructive manner Verify authorized pick-up of children by checking identification and approved pick-up lists Maintain proper staff-to-child ratios and conduct regular headcounts Perform additional duties as assigned by program leadership Minimum Qualifications: Must be at least 15 years old Experience working with children required Demonstrated enthusiasm and passion for working with youth Positive attitude with a strong sense of responsibility and reliability First Aid and CPR certification preferred CORI/SORI background check required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong communication and interpersonal skills with children, parents, and staff Ability to serve as a positive role model and demonstrate sound judgment Leadership and group management skills, including: 1. Maintaining headcounts and proper staff-to-child ratios 2. Managing transitions and schedule changes 3. Handling conflicts calmly and constructively Ability to remain calm and respond effectively in emergency or high-pressure situations Dependable, trustworthy, and team-oriented Energetic, flexible, and adaptable to a dynamic program environment Work Environment and Physical Requirements: Primarily an outdoor and active setting at Amesbury Town Park and related recreation areas Active role requiring consistent supervision, movement, and engagement with children of varying ages Must be able to stand for several hours at a time. Must be able to handle varying levels of noise and activities. Standing, walking, bending, crouching, seeing, hearing, talking, carrying, climbing, and the ability to lift 50 lbs. is required.
