Job Description:
Printing Services is seeking a Prepress & Print Design Technician II to support the prepress and production preparation workflow within our print environment. This role centers on routine prepress operations, including reviewing, preparing, and correcting files for production using established standards and specifications, and ensuring files meet quality, accessibility, and production requirements across print and digital projects.
This position operates within defined workflows and documented guidelines, resolving common prepress issues independently and escalating complex or non‑standard challenges to senior staff. The role supports efficient production by maintaining accuracy, consistency, and adherence to specifications, while collaborating with production teams, customer relations staff, and clients to ensure files are prepared correctly for downstream production.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in a printing service environment
Experience working in a higher education environment
Experience with print prepress software to prepare digital and wide-format print
Experience assisting with promotional and marketing activities or materials
Experience with mail list processing software and variable-data processing workflows

Printing Services combines technical expertise in prepress, production, and finishing with a strong focus on accuracy, accessibility, and consistency. As part of an integrated communications workflow, the department supports both traditional print and emerging digital solutions, helping translate the knowledge and messaging of Iowa State University into effective visual communications for campus partners and the broader Iowa community.
Team members work closely with production staff, customer-facing colleagues, and clients across campus in a collaborative, service oriented environment where precision, problem solving, and continuous improvement are valued.
