Mary Greeley Medical Center Groundskeeping Intern in Ames, Iowa
Mary Greeley Medical Center is seeking a motivated Groundskeeping Intern to support the care, appearance, and safety of our hospital campus and MGMC‑serviced outbuildings. Under general supervision, this role performs a variety of groundskeeping and landscaping tasks, contributing directly to a welcoming and healing environment for our patients, visitors, and staff.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with maintenance of MGMC landscaping, including rooftop and healing gardens.
Trim and prune trees, bushes, flowers, and grasses.
Weed, mulch, and refresh flower beds.
Mow and trim grass as needed.
Operate basic groundskeeping and landscaping equipment.
Perform additional duties as assigned by Facilities Management leadership.
Qualifications
Required
Valid driver’s license with ability to remain eligible under MGMC’s insurance policy.
Ability to read, write, and understand English, including equipment manuals and regulatory documentation.
Functional knowledge of basic building and groundskeeping equipment.
Compliance with required stroke education per regulatory standards.
Heavy work is exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly.
Preferred
High school diploma or equivalent.
