Job Title: Forklift Mechanic
Job Description
The Forklift Mechanic supports the maintenance team by keeping all material-handling equipment in safe, reliable working condition. This role focuses on troubleshooting, repairing, and servicing a variety of forklifts—including electric, propane, gas, and diesel models—to ensure smooth daily operations. The position requires strong mechanical aptitude, solid diagnostic skills, and a consistent safety-first mindset, with experience on Toyota or Komatsu equipment considered a strong advantage.
Responsibilities
Perform scheduled maintenance and full-service repairs on forklifts and related material-handling equipment.
Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues on forklifts and heavy equipment and complete repairs independently.
Conduct thorough safety checks and ensure all equipment meets OSHA requirements and internal safety standards.
Maintain accurate service records, including repair notes, parts usage, and maintenance documentation.
Respond quickly to equipment failures and breakdowns to minimize operational downtime.
Communicate clearly with equipment operators and supervisors about recurring issues, repair needs, and recommended preventive actions.
Maintain an organized, clean, and safe work area that supports efficient and safe repair practices.
Essential Skills
Previous hands-on experience as a forklift mechanic or heavy equipment mechanic.
Strong understanding of electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems used in forklifts and heavy equipment.
Ability to read and interpret service manuals, schematics, and technical diagrams.
Proficiency with diagnostic tools, repair equipment, and standard shop tools.
Reliable work history with a demonstrated commitment to safe repair practices, including lockout/tagout (LOTO).
Valid driver’s license.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Technical training or certifications in equipment maintenance, heavy equipment repair, or related fields.
Hands-on experience working with Toyota or Komatsu forklifts.
Background in manufacturing or warehouse maintenance environments.
Strong troubleshooting skills across mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
Experience with equipment maintenance for forklifts and other heavy equipment.

Work Environment
Work takes place in active warehouse and industrial environments with varying temperatures. The role involves physical activity, including lifting up to 50 lbs., bending, kneeling, and climbing as needed to access equipment. You will move between buildings to service equipment across the facility. The schedule runs Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with occasional overtime on Saturdays. You will work in a shop and warehouse setting using standard shop tools, diagnostic equipment, and repair tools while maintaining a clean, organized, and safety-focused workspace.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of American Canyon, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $45.00/hr.
