Accounts Payable Clerk

Job Summary

TheAccounts Payable Clerkis responsible for processing vendor invoices related to construction projects, including materials, equipment rentals, fuel, and subcontractor services. This position ensures invoices are coded correctly to jobs and cost codes and that vendors are paid accurately and on time.

Responsibilities

• Review and process vendor invoices for construction materials, equipment rentals, and subcontractors
• Match invoices withpurchase orders, delivery tickets, and haul tickets
• Review invoices for propercoding
• Enter invoices into the accounting system accurately
• Assist withweekly check runs
• Reconcile vendor statements and resolve billing discrepancies
• Maintain vendor records includingW-9 forms and insurance documentation
• Communicate with vendors and project managers regarding invoices or payment status
• Maintain organized records of invoices and supporting documents
• Assist the accounting department withmonth-end closing and reporting

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required;Associates degree in Accounting or Business preferred
• 1-2 years of accounts payable or accounting experience, construction experience preferred
• Knowledge ofjob costing or construction accountingis a plus
• Proficiency inMicrosoft Excel and accounting software
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to manage multiple invoices and deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Skills

• Experience working withconstruction job cost reports
• Familiarity withsubcontractor compliance requirements
• Knowledge ofmaterial tickets, haul tickets, and equipment billing
• Experience withelectronic invoice processing systems

Work Environment

• Office environment within a construction/paving company
• Regular interaction with project managers, estimators, and vendors
• May require additional hours duringmonth-end closing or peak construction season
