Robert Half Staff Accountant in Amagansett, New York
Description
Our client, a well‑established organization based in Amagansett, is seeking a Temporary Staff Accountant to support the accounting team during a busy period. This role is hands‑on and operational, ideal for a detail‑oriented accountant who is comfortable working in a traditional accounting environment with significant manual processes. The position will start fully in‑office, with the opportunity to move to a hybrid schedule once fully trained.
Key Responsibilities
Payroll
Process weekly payroll for approximately 55 employees
Utilize Certapay for payroll processing
Ensure accurate employee data, hours, deductions, and compliance
Assist with payroll-related reporting and reconciliations
Accounts Payable
Handle high-volume, manual / paper-based AP processing
Perform check runs and vendor payments
Code invoices accurately to the general ledger
Maintain organized AP files and supporting documentation
Communicate with vendors as needed regarding invoices and payments
General Accounting Support
Assist with GL coding and basic account reconciliations
Support month-end close tasks as needed
Work closely with internal stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate financial processing
Requirements
Prior experience as a Staff Accountant or strong Accounting Clerk
Hands-on experience with payroll processing (Certapay strongly preferred)
Solid Accounts Payable background, including check runs and GL coding
Comfortable in a manual, paper-heavy environment
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to work fully on-site initially in Amagansett
