Industrial Maintenance Technician - Plastics Manufacturing
The Industrial Maintenance Technician is responsible for installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining industrial manufacturing equipment within a plastics conduit production environment. This role supports critical production assets including extrusion lines, vacuum tanks, and resin handling systems. The technician performs preventive maintenance, responds to emergency repairs, and ensures all equipment operates safely and efficiently.
This position requires a minimum of two (2) years of hands-on manufacturing maintenance experience and a strong working knowledge of three-phase electrical systems.
Key Responsibilities
Equipment Maintenance
Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair production machinery including extruders, pullers, reelers, spiral units, and tape feeders.
Diagnose mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic system issues.
System Upkeep
Maintain resin conveying systems, vacuum loaders, compressed air systems, and plant water systems.
Monitor system performance and proactively address potential failures.
Preventive and Emergency Repair
Perform scheduled preventive maintenance to reduce downtime and extend equipment life.
Respond quickly and effectively to equipment breakdowns to minimize production interruptions.
Technical Support
Assist with installation, startup, and commissioning of new equipment.
Support plant shutdowns, changeovers, and major maintenance projects.
Documentation and Inventory
Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and service logs.
Track parts usage and assist with maintenance inventory management and ordering.
Safety and Compliance
Follow all safety policies and procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO).
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Required Qualifications
Education
High school diploma or GED required.
Technical training in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance preferred.
Experience
Minimum of 2 years of hands-on maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
Technical Skills
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical diagrams.
Working knowledge of 120V / 240V / 480V single-phase and three-phase electrical systems.
Tools and Equipment
Proficient with hand tools, power tools, and electrical testing equipment (voltmeter, ammeter, etc.).
Physical Requirements
Ability to work in an industrial manufacturing environment.
Capable of lifting, bending, climbing, and standing for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience troubleshooting and repairing PLC-controlled equipment.
Welding and/or fabrication experience.
Previous experience in plastics extrusion, pipe, or conduit manufacturing.
