Position Summary:

The Senior Data Program Manager/Portfolio Manager role is responsible to oversee initiatives for new capability development, implementation, pilot, and coordinate the effort across Kemper.

This individual manages the end to end project life cycle of projects to assure these are delivered on time; within quality standards; risks are identified and mitigated; stakeholders receive timely and accurate communication, and post -completion controls are executed to ensure a seamless handover to the Business. The Program Manager bears significant responsibility in ensuring a positive experience and is expected to be a driver of the appropriate culture and mindset required to support an information-driven value cycle.

Position Responsibilities :

  • Creates and maintains project plans and other critical PM artifacts in alignment with the process established through the Data Science Operating model.

  • Partners with the Client aligned Delivery Leads to understand the scope of initiatives and assist in creating charters and realistic project schedules.

  • Partners with other Kemper PMOs to manage risks, issues, and dependencies.

  • Drive critical path delivery and mitigate areas of concern in a proactive manner

  • Manages multiple stakeholders geographically dispersed to drive project objectives, and ensure scope and approach are understood across stakeholder community.

  • Resolves or escalates issues timely, to prevent bottlenecks and delays.

  • Uses PPM /Reporting tool to monitor the progress of the projects and provide insight on the plans versus the actuals to determine and execute a ‘Go to Green’ path.

  • Create version 1 of the monthly stakeholder governance pack for internal Data Science stakeholders

  • Conduct post mortems and maintain lesson-learned inputs on project successes and improvements for utilization in similar situations.

Position Qualifications :

  • 12+ years of relevant business experience in Project Management

  • Certificate in Project Management a Plus

  • JIRA experience is required.

  • ServiceNow PM Module is a plus

  • Microsoft Office Suite knowledge required

  • Bias to action

  • A proven track record of successfully leading projects in a high-tech development environment and with multi-functional and technical workstreams.

  • Strong relationship management skills to gain stakeholders’ support.

  • Ability to prioritize and organize effectively and manage multiple projects and assignments.

  • Ability to work and respond in complex and ambiguous situations.

  • This role can be worked in a hybrid capacity from Kemper's Chicago, IL, Alpharetta, GA or Birmingham, AL office. For non-local candidates this is a remote role and can be worked from any US-based home.

The range for this position is $111,900 to $186,700. When determining candidate offers, we consider experience, skills, education, certifications, and geographic location among other factors. This job is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus and Kemper benefits (Medical, Dental, Vision, PTO, 401k, etc.)
