WAVE is currently looking for an evening shift Machine (CNC) Operator to join our team!
Shift: 1pm-9pm
Primary Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for supporting production of custom aluminum extrusions by cutting material according to specifications from blueprints/technical drawings.
General Responsibilities:
Understand and follow written and verbal work instructions.
Set up equipment and lay out fabrication project from blueprints/technical drawings.
Cut materials to specified measurements, using hand tools, machines, or power saw. Join material using adhesive and clamps.
Measure components and finished project/product using a variety of measuring devices to ensure correct dimensions within required tolerances.
Complete roll tooling changeovers using hand tools and maintain equipment, supplies and machinery safely.
Troubleshoot machinery, material, saw, measuring equipment and tooling and making adjustments needed for successful completion of project.
Visually inspect extrusions and check against blueprints/technical drawings and report defects.
Participate in continuous improvement and LEAN manufacturing activities.
Flexible/adaptable to assignment changes, will jump in when help is needed and learn new things.
Maintain all work areas and equipment in a clean and orderly condition at all times.
Perform all work in a safe manner; use proper lock-out procedures during repairs or machine adjustments. Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and make certain that all safety equipment is in proper working order.
Perform these and other related duties as assigned or directed.
Actively participate in communication and WAVE culture.
Measures of Effectiveness; including, but not limited to:
Safety – OSHA rate, compliance with regulations/policies, evidence of risk reduction, engagement in 8-Step Safety Process, near-miss reporting
Quality – Customer claims, quarantined product, ability to recognize defects and implement corrective actions through visual inspection while machine is in operation
Productivity – Changeover time, PE%, downtime %, troubleshooting, CMMS activity, work orders
Communication – Shift handoff and line preparation, Gemba, kaizen event participation
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED
Preferred; Knowledge and experience of machinery in manufacturing environment or similar.
Preferred; Experience with LEAN manufacturing, 6S, Six Sigma.
Preferred; Experience in a fast-paced, high performance manufacturing environment.
Able to lift a maximum of 40 pounds
Able to stand 8-10 hours per day at assigned work area
