Actalent Electrical Test Engineer in Alpharetta, Georgia

Job Title: Electrical Test EngineerJob Description

Join a dynamic team that pioneers premium energy storage solutions. As an Electrical Test Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the launch of a new lithium-ion forklift battery that has been fully designed and manufactured in-house. This position offers the opportunity to work on innovative Lithium battery solutions that cater to applications ranging from motive power to green energy grid storage.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct experimental tests, analyze test data, and write detailed test reports.

  • Create test plans and procedures to support the development of production test systems.

  • Collaborate with external laboratories to test and qualify products to environmental, safety, industrial, military, and Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC/EMI) standards.

  • Work alongside the software team on device bring-up, hardware integration, and system development.

  • Develop and execute hardware integration, verification, validation, and qualification plans.

  • Lead and participate in both internal and external design reviews.

  • Collaborate with third-party suppliers and subcontract manufacturers.

  • Engage in Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (DFMEA) activities internally and with suppliers.

  • Participate in Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design to Cost (DTC) activities to ensure cost-effective product design aligned with manufacturing plans.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.

  • Understanding of power electronics and mixed signal electronics.

  • Strong analytical problem-solving skills.

  • Experience in preparing technical specifications and product performance test procedures.

  • Proficiency in Altium or similar software for schematic capture and PCB layout.

  • Effective team collaboration and strong interpersonal skills.

  • Robust organizational and documentation skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Understanding of energy storage and control in multi-cell, rechargeable lithium-ion battery packs.

  • Experience with high voltage and high-power electronics.

  • Ability to assemble prototypes with Surface Mount Device (SMD) components.

  • Experience with Configuration Management (CM) and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tools.

  • Familiarity with SolidWorks 3D CAD or similar software for mechanical design.

  • Knowledge of microprocessor-based controller design and testing.

  • Proficiency in communication circuits and protocols such as CAN, Serial, and Ethernet.

  • Familiarity with low-level software development, including device drivers and scripting languages.

Work Environment

The work environment includes a typical engineering office setting with occasional field and factory visits. Core working hours are from 9 AM to 3 PM, Monday through Friday, with flexibility outside these hours as long as 40 hours per week are completed. The position is based at our Alpharetta, GA facility, and involves daily on-site work.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Alpharetta, GA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $49.00/hr.
