Job Description
The Process Engineer plays a crucial role in supporting the Engineering and Operations teams within a GMP-regulated pharmaceutical packaging environment. This position involves leading technology transfers, managing capital equipment projects, and integrating new assets and automation to enhance operational efficiency, throughput, and quality. The individual will drive continuous improvement initiatives, implement process enhancements, and resolve complex machine issues to ensure standardized and efficient operations. Responsibilities
Lead technology transfer activities for new and existing client products across various stages of commercial packaging, ensuring alignment with project timelines.
Drive capital expenditure (CAPEX) projects from initiation through equipment installation and operational integration.
Develop equipment specifications and user requirements, lead vendor evaluations, and conduct design reviews.
Perform factory acceptance testing (FAT), site acceptance testing (SAT), commissioning, and validation activities.
Onboard and integrate new equipment, automation platforms, and production technologies to improve throughput and control.
Collaborate with Production and Operations to identify and resolve workflow bottlenecks and performance constraints.
Conduct deviation investigations, corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs), and change control management.
Review, develop, and approve engineering and validation documents, including protocols and specifications.
Identify and drive continuous improvement efforts to reduce costs, increase efficiency, and enhance product quality.
Ensure full compliance with GMP standards and site safety practices.
Perform additional duties as needed to meet business and operational objectives.
Essential Skills
Minimum of 3 years of engineering experience in a cGMP-controlled environment, with preference for pharmaceutical or food industry experience.
Proficiency in pharmaceutical or food packaging operations.
Strong foundation in Lean, Six Sigma, SMED, and structured problem-solving methodologies.
Mechanical proficiency with proven experience resolving packaging equipment issues.
Deep technical writing skills, including protocol and batch record authoring.
Proficient in authoring equipment onboarding and qualification documentation.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills to explain technical information to non-technical collaborators.
Proficiency with MS Office, especially Excel, for data analysis and project tracking.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor of Science degree in Packaging, Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering or a related field from an accredited institution.
Experience with automated packaging, labeling, bottling, or device assembly equipment is preferred.
Prior packaging experience, including labeling and assembly of syringes, kitting, serialization, and overall packaging design, is a big plus.
Work Environment
The work environment consists of a first-shift schedule with 60% of the time spent in the office and 40% in a cleanroom setting. This role requires full-time, on-site presence at the Allentown facility.

This is a Contract position based out of Allentown, PA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $43.26 - $50.00/hr.
