Robert Half Accounts Receivable & Collections Specialist in Allentown, Pennsylvania
Description
We are looking for an Accounts Receivable & Collections Specialist to support daily receivables activity and help maintain accurate financial records in Allentown, Pennsylvania. This role is well suited to someone who can manage competing priorities, communicate effectively with customers and internal teams, and stay highly organized in a fast-paced setting. The ideal candidate brings strong attention to detail, sound judgment when resolving billing issues, and a proactive approach to keeping accounts current and well documented.
Responsibilities:
• Manage customer invoicing, apply incoming payments, record deposits, and reconcile account activity to ensure accurate balances.
• Review outstanding receivables regularly, follow up on past-due accounts, and support timely collection of commercial payments.
• Respond to billing questions, payment concerns, and account disputes while maintaining constructive and customer-focused relationships.
• Prepare recurring and ad hoc reports that summarize aging trends, collection progress, and overall payment performance for leadership review.
• Partner with sales, operations, and finance teams to investigate account issues, resolve discrepancies, and prevent future billing errors.
• Maintain complete and organized records of collection efforts, account updates, and customer communications for audit-ready documentation.
• Monitor account details closely to identify inconsistencies, research root causes, and recommend practical solutions to improve receivables accuracy.
Requirements • At least 3 years of experience in accounts receivable, collections, or a related finance function.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Hands-on experience with QuickBooks, ConnectWise, and NetSuite.
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, with particular strength in Excel.
• Clear verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with customers and cross-functional teams.
• Ability to negotiate payment arrangements professionally while preserving positive business relationships.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to research issues, assess details accurately, and resolve discrepancies efficiently.
• High level of accuracy, persistence, and professionalism when handling detailed financial work and challenging collection conversations.
