In this position...

  • Ford Racing is seeking an experienced engineer to join our Vehicle Engineering team.This position involves leading Secondary Ride development on high performance on & off-road vehicles using analytical and in-vehicle methods to deliver Ride performance while achieving world class Steering and Handling performance.

  • Lead Secondary Ride vibration (shake) and Vehicle Vibrates While Driving (VVWD) development of future Ford Racing on and off-road vehicles from Architecture through execution and launch.

  • Leverage and refine existing knowledge, and develop Ford Racing-specific Secondary ride and VVWD strategies and best practices when necessary, to support vehicle design and development from architecture through execution phases.Primary areas of focus:

  • Suspension kinematics and compliance

  • Powertrain mounts

  • Body on Frame Body mounts

  • Chassis/Body structure

  • Work closely with cross functional team including Vdyn, NVH, CAE / Simulation and Chassis Architecture to establish pre-program targets that support system selection, minimizing trade-offs analytically prior to prototype availability

  • Support performance testing methods and metric development across all Ford Racing programs, on and off road.

  • Responsible for delivery of on and off-road Secondary Ride attributes including applicable Ride DNA metrics and VVWD performance.

  • Use of analytical tools (CAE, Simulator, etc) and proof of concept hardware testing to correlate models and develop component tuning libraries that deliver program attribute targets.

  • Manage test plans to support tuning freezes and attribute assessments at all major milestones

  • Manage off-site testing, scheduling objective testing w/ both internal (VEV) and external vendors (Roush, Cayman Dynamics, Morse Measurement etc)

  • Complete and document all DVP and CDR reqs for Ride and VVWD.

  • Serve as NVH attribute SME and mentor within Ford Racing

You'll have...

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering degree or related field of study

  • 5+ years of Vehicle development experience in NVH and/or Vehicle Dynamics

  • 5+ years of experience in NVH CAE

  • 2+ experience in NVH data acquisition / analysis

  • Strong grasp of DNA metrics, modal separation strategies, and full system development to deliver ride attribute for pickups, suvs, unibodies and convertibles

  • Excellent communication and relationship skills

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with evolving products and needs

  • Strong work ethic and ability to adapt to requested schedules

  • Passion for achieving vehicle performance goals and delighting customers

Even better, you may have...

  • Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering degree

  • Experience in chassis design and secondary ride development

  • Knowledge of controls system theory related to semi-active systems (shocks, active/switchable mounts)

This position is leadership level 6 and ranges from $112,680-212,760.

Final determination of salary grade will be based on candidate's skills and experience, and base salary will be set within the applicable range according to job scope, responsibility and competitive market value.
