In this position...
This position is within the Ford Racing organization and will closely interface with the ICE Propulsion and Thermal Systems Engineering (IPTSE) organization.
It is initially for a component design and release engineer on the 5.2L engine program and may expand to other major powertrain castings for other programs.
What you'll do...
Design & Release new and existing components/sub-systems
Create & own the 3D models & 2D drawings for assigned cast components
Lead sub-system Component Program Module Team (CPMT) activities
Lead WERS (Worldwide Engineering Release System); alerts, concerns and notice processing
Lead resolution of major design, manufacturing, program, and launch issues
Lead management of casting and machining suppliers for the cylinder block & other similar components
Work collaboratively with CAE resources in support of the analysis of cylinder block and other similar components (Structural, thermal, CFD)
Create, complete, approve DVPs and oversee testing in support of robust validation
Develop and maintain CPMT documents, including appropriate quality documents (FEDE, ESOW, DFMEA, PTDV, e3P, SCCAF’s, Global Integrator, OPTIX, PPAP, 543 Chart etc.) for program specific sub-system responsibilities.
Support all Program Meetings (EPMT, Design Review, DPMT, Change Control, etc…)
Work directly with suppliers, Supplier Technical Assistance (STA), and launch teams to support program requirements and resolve quality issues
Interface with engine dynamometer testing team
Interface with cross-functional teams, such as purchasing, mating components, calibration, & manufacturing
Support prototype engine build Program Attribute Team (PAT) (BOM, inspection and prototype fit reviews)
Support travel, both domestic and international, when required
You'll have...
B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Material Science or related field
3+ years Design and Release Experience
3+ years of experience in CAD (CATIA, NX, CREO, or similar)
Technical expertise with Gasoline Internal Combustion Engines (ICE)
Experience with base engine dynamometer testing
Experience with CAE Simulation Methodologies (1D, 3D, FEA, CFD)
Strong communication, organization, and problem solving skills
Ability to interact effectively with multiple internal and external stakeholders
Strong Leadership ability
Working level CAD experience
Support travel, both domestic and international, as required
Even better, you may have...

Black Belt Certification preferred

This position is a salary grade 8 and ranges from $99,100-$166,200.
Final determination of salary grade will be based on candidate's skills and experience, and base salary will be set within the applicable range according to job scope, responsibility and competitive market value.
