Job Description

Position Summary:

Maintains schedules for material requirements and availability for the manufacture of industrial and commercial products to support production. Compiles records concerning quantity, cost, type of material received, shipped, in inventory, and/or in production. Expedites flow of materials, parts, and assemblies within or between departments in accordance with production and shipping schedules. Assists in determining possible and actual shortages, may initiate action to correct these deficiencies. Uses knowledge of production, procurement, and engineering departments to alert proper authorities regarding potential problems and sequence and lead time of each operations to meet shipping dates.

Reporting Relationships:

The Materials Specialist reports directly to the Production Control Manager.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Maintain overall production and delivery schedules using ERP data and system.
  • Assists in part hand-offs between Machining, Assembly, and Suppliers.
  • Coordinate with production, inventory personnel, and purchasing for shortages as identified through ERP scheduling operations.
  • Provide status updates as required.
  • May occasionally perform special projects.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Familiar with computerized ERP/Scheduling systems.
  • Understand manufacturing processes and how scheduling interacts with upstream and downstream functions.
  • Blueprint reading and basic math skills a plus.
  • Good computer skills and ability to query, monitory, and input ERP system data.Able to work with multiple priorities.
  • Able to understand process flows and the needs of the functional areas (Program Management, Production, Quality, Suppliers, etc.).
  • Able to professionally communicate and work with others.
  • Attention to detail and ability to handle multiple priorities.
  • Willingness to learn and receive training, and train others if required.

Level of Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • 2-3 years of applicable experience
