Reporting to the Vice President for Student Experience, the Director of Public Safety is responsible for the organization, operation, supervision, and administration of campus safety efforts at Alfred University. The Director leads and manages Alfred Universitys Public Safety Department by providing guidance and direction to officers and staff in implementing policies, procedures, and general orders and responding efficiently and effectively to all situations that impact the AU community, including parking and transportation, the development and implementation of the Integrated Contingency Plan for the safety and security of student, staff, faculty, and visitors of our Alfred University Campus. The Director is responsible for recruitment, hiring and training new Public Safety Officers as well as supervision and scheduling. The Director is also responsible for the development and implementation of policies related to parking enforcement, building security, including all facilities both on and off campus. The Director is an on-call member of the Student Experience leadership team, responding to campus calls and emergencies as needed with senior leadership. The Director will participate in student conduct investigations and hearings as needed and serve on various campus wide committees. The Director will work collaboratively with students, faculty, staff, and other constituents to enhance the campus safety and security environment and ensure the departments work reflects the Universitys commitment to building and maintaining fully inclusive and transparent relationships with internal and external communities.
