[Temporary workers will perform a combination of grain and livestock production duties during the grain production season. Duties include but are not limited to: Operate agricultural equipment for corn and soybean production as directed: tractors, planters, cultivators, sprayers (if applicable), grain carts, combines, skid steer/loader, forklifts, and similar equipment. Conduct pre-operation inspections; attach and adjust implements; calibrate equipment as trained (depth/spacing, rates). Assist with planting, field preparation, harvest support, grain handling/transport within the farm, and post-harvest cleanup. Receive, handle, and store ingredients (corn/soy, supplements) and load finished feed into bins or delivery systems. Maintain accurate logs as required for equipment use and basic field operations. Perform cleaning and upkeep of barns, pens, alleyways, loading areas, and surrounding farm grounds. Maintain gates, fencing, water lines, feed lines, ventilation components, and barn equipment (routine checks and minor repairs) and pens. Mow, trim, weed, pick up debris, clean drainage areas, and maintain driveways/yards around facilities. Power wash, scrape, shovel, sweep, and disinfect as needed to maintain sanitary conditions. Observe livestock daily for signs of illness, injury, lameness, heat stress, or abnormal behavior; report concerns to supervisor. Move and sort livestock using low-stress animal handling techniques; load/unload as directed. Provide feed and water and ensure proper functioning of feeders, waterers, gates, and pen equipment. Assist with basic animal care tasks as directed (e.g., treating minor injuries under supervision, isolating sick animals, recording observations). Workers will typically work 8-10 hours a day, within the hours of 5am to 5pm, however during peak planting and harvest times, workers may be asked to work later in the day or more hours per week. During cooler months, workers will start around 7am and during the hotter months, workers may be asked to start at 5am and work the cooler part of the days. Shifts are typically 8-10 hours but can vary based on need.
