This is your opportunity to enjoy working with a dynamic and highly professional group of staff in a small, state-of-the-art, inpatient psychiatric treatment facility that provides excellent care for adults with a variety of behavioral health conditions. With only 16 beds, the Community Behavioral Health Hospital (CBHH) in Alexandria offers an array of services in a community-based setting. Our mental health treatment and programming utilize a person-centered framework. We routinely involve the patient, their family and multiple community resources in treatment planning and implementation. The interdisciplinary treatment team is robust, and includes a psychiatrist, nurses, a psychologist, social workers, and rehabilitation therapists. This facility belongs to a network of six small behavioral health hospitals located throughout the state, giving you access to consult and collaborate with colleagues. With an average length of stay of 30 days, you’ll help patients to transition their care to a substantial system of outpatient services in the area.

In this role, you will function as a hospitalist delivering comprehensive mental health care for individuals with acute to chronic and severe mental illness in collaboration with other health care professionals. This includes serving as the on-site psychiatric mental health attending clinician and a leader of the clinical treatment team. Additional duties include assessing, evaluating, diagnosing, and treating persons admitted to the hospital to ensure their mental, social, and physical health needs are met.

Responsibilities include:

  • Conduct clinical diagnostic assessments

  • Provide input into the development and management of treatment plans as they pertain to psychiatric care need

  • Provide psychotropic medication consultation and monitoring

  • Provide consultation to clinic patients and caregivers regarding psychiatric concerns

Minimum Qualifications

  • Graduation from a program of study designed to prepare the individual for advanced practice as a nurse practitioner or clinical nurse specialist

  • Certification with a national professional nursing organization as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner or Clinical Nurse Specialist.

  • Licensed or eligible for licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in Minnesota.

  • Authorization from the Minnesota Board of Nursing to prescribe drugs and therapeutic devices.

Preferred Qualifications

  • One year of experience working in an acute psychiatric hospital setting.

  • Previous APRN experience.
