The City of Alexandria is seeking professional individuals to begin a career in government, Water Department, located in the heart of Central Louisiana
to collect garbage and yard trash on an assigned route as a worker on the back of a sanitation truck.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Retrieves garbage and yard trash bags from residential homes or businesses and empty them into the compactor of a sanitation truck and to ensure complete removal of all acceptable garbage or trash.
Follows safety procedures, utilizes safety equipment, and monitors work environment to ensure safety of employees and other individuals.
Operates packer or lift mechanisms on garbage truck or other tools as necessary to complete essential functions, to include the use of shovels, pitchforks, yard rakes, and brooms.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School diploma or GED preferred; previous relevant work experience is preferred; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. May require a valid driver's license. If license is required, must obtain a valid State of Louisiana driver's license at time of appointment and maintain throughout employment in this position.
Work Hours: 40 hours per week, may work overtime, weekends and holidays.
