Rapides Parish Civil Service Mechanic II in Alexandria, Louisiana
CLASS TITLE: Mechanic II
CLASS RANGE: 20
MINIMUM SALARY: $38,106.41 annually + Benefits
NATURE OF POSITION
- Maintain and repair parish vehicles and heavy construction equipment.
- Keep vehicles in proper working condition by completing preventative maintenance schedules.
- Repair and replace parts and assemblies such as drive trains, electrical systems, air conditioning, fuel, emission, brakes, steering, and hydraulics.
- Overhaul, rebuild, replace, and update parts as necessary.
- Ensure vehicles meet all state and federal requirements.
- Train entry-level Mechanics.
- Maintain records of services, repairs, and inventory.
COMPETENCIES/PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Possess proven ability to learn and improve skills.
- Able to tolerate outdoor conditions and various types of weather.
- Able to stoop, kneel, balance, climb for tasks, and raise/lower objects up to 100 lbs.
NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent with formal training.
- Five (5) years of related experience.
- Valid Louisiana Class B CDL.
- Must be available for recall to work after normal working hours due to emergencies.
