Nexstar Media Group Master Control Operator in Albuquerque, New Mexico

KRQE Media Group is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Master Control Operator to support the daily operation of our multi-station broadcast environment. This role is critical to ensuring all programming airs accurately, on time, and in full compliance with FCC rules and regulations.

  • Keep all stations in compliance with FCC rules and regulations governing television broadcasters including EAS requirements, closed captioning logs and compliance with the FCC Children’s Television Act

  • Ingest syndicated programming, network programming & commercials

  • Accurately check every log in the automation system

  • Monitor & operate computer playlists during regular programming, high-value network programming & live sports programming for our 6 main stations

  • Verify missing material on the program logs and contact appropriate source for the missing material

  • Monitors transmitter strength & clarity of incoming and outgoing signals and adjusts equipment as necessary to maintain quality broadcasts

  • Selects sources from which programming will be received and through which programming will be transmitted

  • Report equipment problems and ensure that repairs are made by our engineering staff

  • Work closely with the News Department, Traffic Department, Sales Department and Marketing Department.

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements & Skills:

  • Technical degree recommended, but not required

  • Broadcast experience preferred

  • Minimum two years’ master control experience preferred

  • Automation systems preferred

  • Fluency in English

  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written

  • Computer knowledge a must

  • Familiarity with server recording & playback preferred

  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule that includes overnights, holidays, and weekends

  • Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously ​
