What Your Job Will Be Like:
We are seeking an E&O Systems Engineer to join our ND Configuration Management Department (02232). In this role, you will operate at the Systems-level, collaborating closely with your Systems and Product Realization Team colleagues to ensure compliance with configuration management requirements. A thorough understanding of relevant computer applications is essential to achieve configuration management objectives, including engineering data architectures, change control processing, technical data package reporting, the ND Systems lifecycle, and a familiarity with the Phase X/6.x process, including its associated milestones and deliverables.
Your contributions will play a vital role in advancing common digital engineering workflows across weapons programs, aimed at accelerating and automating engineering processes while enabling digital thread capabilities. A results-driven mindset will be crucial as you focus on achieving collective goals and solving problems effectively.
On any given day, you may be called on to:
Assist the team in defining and refining policies to establish a consistent configuration management framework.
Provide guidance on configuration management tools to ensure alignment with digital engineering initiatives.
Develop solutions to enhance configuration management implementation in ND Modernization and Sustainment programs.
Author and contribute to documentation of configuration management processes and tools for broad applicability while maintaining program-specific configuration management plans and a catalog of programs' digital solutions (IT portfolio management).
Deliver training on tools and processes as needed and conduct user acceptance testing to ensure tools meet user requirements.
Collaborate with cross-functional ND systems teams, including technical engineers, project management, and test/qualification teams, to champion configuration management best practices and identify opportunities for process improvement.
Engage in strategic discussions about project goals and how to achieve them effectively, ensuring that actions taken are purposeful and aligned with broader organizational objectives.
Support technical teams to define and manage product configuration to ensure understanding of the as-designed and as-built configuration.
Create and manage Product Structures for Configuration Status Reporting in product/documentation tracking.
Perform configuration audits (e.g., administrative, physical, functional) and assist/facilitate quality assessments (e.g., compliance with federal, corporate, contractual policies).

Salary Range:
$87,400 - $168,800
*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.
Qualifications We Require:
Bachelor's degree in Configuration Management, Quality Management, Information Systems, Design Engineering, Business Administration, Communication or Journalism or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience working with technical engineering teams to meet project deliverables in one or more of the following areas: digital engineering, systems engineering, configuration management, requirements management, quality management, supply chain management, project management, and product lifecycle management.
Proficiency in PDMLink and/or other equivalent configuration management IT applications.
Experience with product and/or software development lifecycle (e.g. Systems Engineering V, Product Lifecycle Management, etc.)
Active DOE Q Security Clearance (or DOD equivalent)
Qualifications We Desire:
Proven experience on engineering development programs with extensive documentation objectives (e.g., managing 10,000 to 100,000 records).
Proficiency in business applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Adobe, SharePoint) to facilitate effective communication and documentation.
Experience in establishing and managing engineering change management processes, including impact analyses and review boards, with a focus on assembly, parts, and material assurance.
Demonstrated ability to advocate for and train teams on configuration management applications and processes, fostering a collaborative environment.
Working knowledge of MCAD, ECAD, and/or ERP systems (e.g., CREO, SolidWorks, Mentor Graphics, PDMLink, Teamcenter, Oracle Manufacturing, ARAS Innovator).
Relevant certifications such as CMII, ISO, PMBOK, INCOSE, Scrum/Agile (e.g., Jira), ASPE, and APICS.
Experience in nuclear deterrence (ND) programs and familiarity with enterprise partners and the lifecycle of ND programs.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and foster teamwork among multidisciplinary teams.
Excellent organizational and planning skills, with a systems thinking approach to problem-solving.

ND Configuration Management (02232) is comprised of Systems Engineers and Technologists offering expertise to deliver innovative rapid development solutions and high-quality product definition to meet our nation's urgent security needs. We emphasize Configuration Management as part of the systems engineering discipline to meet program goals and are partnering with other Sandia Directorates to improve this capability for current and future programs .

Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q security clearance to start, or equivalent active security clearance with another U.S. government agency (e.g., DOD).
