Robert Half Assistant Controller in Albuquerque, New Mexico
Description
We are seeking a hands-on Assistant Controller to support and strengthen the accounting function within a growing organization. This role is responsible for maintaining the general ledger, supporting financial statement preparation, overseeing cost accounting activities, and assisting with payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable processes. The ideal candidate will have strong audit experience, a solid understanding of accounting principles beyond system-based processing, and the ability to analyze both detailed transactions and overall financial performance. This position requires a self-motivated professional who is comfortable working across multiple accounting functions, supporting month-end close, and collaborating with leadership to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting. Attitude, accountability, and strong business acumen are key to success in this role.
Requirements • Demonstrated experience supporting month-end close in a multi-function accounting environment.
• Strong working knowledge of general ledger management and account reconciliation processes.
• Background in financial statement audits, including audit support and documentation preparation.
• Familiarity with DCAA expectations and accounting practices in regulated or government-related environments.
• Experience preparing financial reports and analyzing results for accuracy and completeness.
• Solid understanding of accounting principles with the ability to interpret transactions beyond system-generated outputs.
• Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and communicate effectively with leadership and cross-functional teams.
