IBM Process Design Kit - Design Rule Engineer in Albany, New York

Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will be part of a dynamic and skilled IBM Research team developing Design Rule Checking (DRC) decks based on specified Design Rule Manual (DRM) requirements, using industry standard (EDA) tools including Synopsys IC Validator and Cadence Virtuoso Design Environment for multiple technologies. Ensure high quality DRC decks by creating test structures including using Cadence Virtuoso Design Environment and/or Synopsys Custom Compiler, to validate DRC checks. Close and frequent cooperation with other DRC development engineers and DRM engineers will be required.

Required technical and professional expertise

  • Hands-on experience with industry tools such as Synopsys IC Validator (ICV), Cadence Pegasus, Mentor/Siemens Calibre, etc.

  • Experience using the Cadence Virtuoso layout design tool or other EDA layout design tool.

  • Strong understanding of physical layout, technology ground rules, and semiconductor processing and Linux design environments.

  • Ability to debug errors and solve problems.

  • Ability to work in a team environment.

  • Strong communication skills.

Preferred technical and professional experience

  • Experience with advanced semiconductor technology nodes.

  • Experience with quality assurance methodologies.

  • Proficiency in automation scripting languages.

  • Ability to build automated workflows for pattern generation, rule extraction, rule comparison, and error filtering.
