Duties Description This internship will give insight into a NYS Accounting office and the Statewide Financial System. Some of the tasks include:Run reports & queries, analyze/summarize dataPrepare Federal payment justifications and journal entriesPrepare/review depositsFile/purge records based on retention regulationsAssist in answering phone calls and emailsUpdate employees' travel profiles, update/maintain travel proxy rolesReconcile separated employees travel card charges.Enter vouchers in the accounting information system.Handle checks including accounts receivable processing
Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:• Be 18 years of age or older• Be actively enrolled in a New York State college, university, or graduate program, or be a resident of New York State, attending a college, university or graduate program outside of New York State*• Have completed a minimum of one (1) year as a student at a degree-granting two or four-year college or university (completion of one year's worth of academic credits over a longer period may qualify part-time students for participation in the program), or be a currently enrolled graduate student or accepted in a graduate degree program• Have a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.0, or the letter grade equivalentPreferred Skill sets: Accounting background and working to complete or have completed 24 credit hours.Strong Excel skillsStrong computer skillsAbility to understand policies and proceduresDegree Concentrations Requested:Financial StudiesBusiness Administration
