Duties Description The Environmental Engineering Technician 1 (EET1) with the Division of Air Resources’ Bureau of Air Quality Analysis and Research will assist Research Scientists and Air Pollution Meteorologists with air toxics assessments. Under the technical supervision and guidance of Air Toxics Section staff, the EET1 will assist in the review of toxicity assessments and air quality impact assessments; provide support for permit application reviews; and assist in the preparation of memos to DEC permitting staff. The EET1 will compile supporting information for assessments and maintain data and documents shared within the Bureau.Preference will be given to candidates with an undergraduate degree or relevant course work in public health, toxicology, epidemiology, or physical sciences (meteorology, atmospheric sciences, environmental engineering, environmental sciences, environmental studies, chemistry, or physics).Essential Functions: Must be able to operate a computer and possess knowledge of required technical computer programs.Good written and oral communication skillsCapable of dealing effectively with the public, government and other outside entitiesAble to travel to meetings and outside conferences as required
Minimum Qualifications Open-Competitive: Four years of experience in technician work in aeronautical, chemical, civil, electrical, environmental, mechanical, or sanitary engineering technology; environmental technology; geology or geology technology; or as a surveyor or a drafter; OR graduation from high school and one year of qualifying experience;OR graduation from a high school technical education program in aeronautics, architectural drafting, chemistry, electricity, electronics, mechanical design and construction, technical structural drafting and design, technical instrumentation and control systems, or computer circuitry; OR 18 college semester credit hours in any combination of the following: engineering, geology, environmental science, natural or physical science, drafting, mathematics, or surveying
