WNYT - News Channel 13 Director of Content and Coverage in Albany, New York
Job Overview This role offers an opportunity to lead a fast moving, multi-platform content operation, guiding creators, producers, and on-air staff as we push toward evolving audience and coverage goals. The Director of Content & Coverage provides day to day editorial and operational leadership of the newsroom, with direct oversight of both broadcast and digital execution.
Working in alignment with the News Directors direction and priorities, the Director of Content & Coverage partners closely with newsroom leadership, including the Executive Producer, to ensure consistency, coordination, and a unified editorial approach across all platforms. Multi department communication and collaboration occur through and alongside the News Director to maintain clarity, alignment, and strategic cohesion across the organization.
Qualifications * 5+ years of newsroom experience with demonstrated leadership responsibilities including a proven track record of leading reporters, MMJs, and content teams. * Strong editorial judgment, strategic thinking, and ability to manage competing priorities. * * Deep understanding of multiplatform news distribution, including digital and social operations. * Excellent communication, organization, and decisionmaking skills. * Ability to stay composed and decisive in breaking news situations. * Proficiency with newsroom systems, content management tools, and analytics platforms. * Experience contributing to or overseeing digital content strategy. Familiarity with performance analytics, SEO, and audience engagement. * Ability to innovate around formats, workflows, and multiplatform content delivery. * Must be able to work flexible hours including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays. * Must demonstrate integrity, ethical conduct, and sound editorial judgment at all times.
